As to why they are that price cheap, you have to look at the fact that these are for a generic drug and drugs are not subject to any government subsidies. For the generic drugs, price is what the manufacturer sells it for and is essentially what it costs the average Canadian family to buy a monthly supply. The same drugs are available on the US market and at same price can be bought for a cheaper price. example, I have seen people at Costco going down to the $200/month, and I have at times even seen these drugs available for much cheaper.
So, if you are getting the "best" meds from one of the most expensive doctors around, you will pay a lot for them. However, if you are getting the lowest possible price for generic medications at that same doctor, you will pay much less, especially if you don't have a medical condition. You can buy any generic drug at pharmacy in Canada for under $50 at most times (you can always go to the CDPHE website see if prices are cheaper you can't get the meds there). If costs of health care are such a Metformin tablet benefits big deal, why don't people just go to Canada and get those pills directly from the makers of drugs?
As I said before I'm sure there are lots of explanations out there for why these prices are so low, but I didn't see any. have been doing research on healthcare costs, and looking into why these meds are so cheap only served to increase my suspicion about those reasons.
